FGB Some good improvements in scores for FGB yesterday.  Ness’s was impressive, over 50 reps!! The box jump height for mens Rx was 5cm lower than last time we did it. I couldn’t put an exact number on it but definitely would have allowed a few extra reps per round…

Fight gone bad 2010 Last time we did this some people were rather nervous….

3k run We were so lucky with the weather on Saturday, all the spectators got to relax in the warm sun while the competitors ran a couple of laps of Onepoto Domain.  I was so tempted to transport the gear down to the park for Event 4….

Photo courtesy of Vincent Yu Congratulations to the CrossFit Birkenhead crew that competed in our games day on Saturday!! Also to competitors from CrossFit NZ, Kiakaha CrossFit, CrossFit Auckland, newly opened CrossFit Newmarket and even a few ‘garage’ CrossFitters who competed.  The atmosphere was truly amazing, at times the cheering from spectators was so loud it must have been heard from across town!! Overall the whole day was far better than I was expecting, all the great volunteers were fantastic and every competitor should be proud of their effort, such a high standard of athleticism all round.

Results of womens division; Tamaryn a convincing 1st with 7 points, Bernie 2nd 20 points, Pip 3rd 24 points.

Only 2 points between first and 3rd for mens division, we almost had to do an extra decider WoD…Filthy Fifty, Murph, 100 burpee box jumps for time??

Event 2:

Maximum consecutive double unders.

Immediately following Event 1, you have 3 minutes to attempt maximum consecutive double unders.  You may attempt as many times as you like within the 3 minutes.

Event 3:

Run 3k

Location: Onepoto Domain

Event 4:

Clean and Jerk up to 15 reps

You will preform consecutive reps up to a maximum of 15.  Choose your weight, each successful lift will go towards your total weight lifted. The bar must not rest on the floor (must touch and go each rep) Hands must stay in contact with bar throughout.  Eg; you use 70kg and drop a clean after completing 10 reps, score =700kg.

Bar must be cleaned to full extension before starting front squats.

Friday 12 November

Last Saturday we presented the cheque to the Starship Foundation.  Our grand total was $5,261.09!! Sarah Frayne from Starship gave us a tour of the Hospital, showing us what the money goes towards.  They have built a large indoor playground with donation money and are currently renovating the top floors of the hospital to make them brighter and more child friendly.  Well done everyone, I think what we achieved is amazing!!
