Saturday 24 July

 Sgt. Sly 185kg Deadlift Sgt. Sly is getting strong!! This 185kg Deadlift is 15kg up on previous PB of 170.  We were working with the same bar while warming up and for a bit of fun I told him to just load the bar with anything and if he lifts it I will. Didn’t think I’d have to increase my PB by 10kg (now 187.5) to keep to my word!!

CrossFit Total this Friday 545pm, shall we go for 200kg Sgt. Sly?

Strength:

Turkish Get Up (TGU) 3,3,2,1 reps each arm, increase weight each round.

W.O.D.

‘Cards’

The class split into groups of 3 or 4.  The task: Get through a deck of cards.  Suit denotes exercise, number on card = reps. Except for Hearts, 1x400m run for each card.

The exercises;
Barbell Clean & Jerk (20/15kg)
Burpee
Kettlebell swing (24/16)
Run/row 400

    Haha, nice one Bro. Thanks 4 the encouragement. 200KG sounds like a big ask!! Will see though, as long as we don’t go on ACC after doing 200KG Healthy Lift. So Back Squats is next. I need to work on my chicken legs.(at the moment 90KG PB)

    NO EXCUSES

I have been a member at CrossFit Birkenhead for the last 2 years and prior to that, CrossFit Birkenhead coach Paul Davies had been training me using CrossFit methods in one-on-one sessions. CrossFit workouts are unparallel to any other workouts in the New Zealand fitness industry today and it is not a new fad that is going to disappear anytime soon. In a CrossFit class members are always educated on best practise and technique is always taught and monitored. As a physician, I have been impressed by Paul’s ability to scale workouts to appropriately suit individual needs. Each CrossFit workout is always different and your body and mind is continually challenged. I have referred my own family and friends to Paul and many of them are now also members of CrossFit Birkenhead.
